The Shake-Up

No, I am not talking about the shoes called Shape-Ups, but I guess I could be with the shake-up that Sketchers caused with their settlement. For many of my avid readers you know that I have a new job, one that will allow me to spend more time with my family.

Yesterday, was my last day at my old job. It was emotional as some of my co-workers came in on their days off to see me off. It feels strange and foreign to me now, I am not walking around married to the TV stations cell phone waiting for a phone call about what I will be doing the moment I get in. Last night, Hot Mama and I went out to get some celebratory ice cream as I have now reclaimed my holidays and weekends.

This morning wakes up, a morning that on a normal day the Kid would be going to day-care. He wakes up before Hot Mama leaves for work and we go through the normal routine of breakfast. As Hot Mama is leaving he runs to the door and says “yeah” like he is ready to go our day-care. Once he found out he was staying home with boring old dad he looked sad and you could see the gears turning wondering why he was not going to spend the day with his friends at day-care.

Hot Mama and I were discussing right before she left for the day that this will not only be an adjustment for me and her but for the Kid as well. He is used to spending a lot of alone time with daddy and he will no longer be getting that. To many of you, that probably sounds almost like a contradiction as to why I took this new job, but this job will allow the family to spend more time together doing things.

The exciting adventure of getting my life back starts!
