What’s That Smell (Part 2)

In yesterday’s post on What’s That Smell, we discovered that the Kid has awful smelling broccoli diapers. Today the smell could have been prevented by a simple action.

On Saturday and Sunday I have to be into work at 6:30am which means I leave the house around 5:45am. I typically will set the coffee maker timer so that I have fresh coffee in the morning, it is the only way that I survive the early morning hours.

I have a bad habit of leaving the coffee cups that I take with me to work in my car, making me leave the house and get one out of my car. Which is not a big deal, right?

Yesterday, I went through my morning routine of going out to the car and getting my coffee mug. I open the car door and I get taken back by the smell. It is normal for my car to smell according to Hot Mama however, being a guy I have experienced smells I do not want to smell again having lived in an all guy dorm and in my old 16 year old boy room. The smell is something familiar, but in my morning stupor, I can not put my nose on the smell.

I reach into the back seat to grab a coffee mug and instead I come back with a baby bottle. Again, not out of the ordinary to have a bottle in my car, I am a parent.

I look at what is in the bottle… milk! At that point, I knew exactly what I was smelling, milk that had sat, spoiled, and curdled in my car for 3 or 4 days.

I have smelt worse spoiled milk than this, however now that smell is in my car and will stay in here until I have the chance to get it out.

What a great way to wake up in the morning!

(As of Sunday morning… the smell was still there)

  1. oh I hate that!! I found a sippy cup of chocolate milk under the couch the other day.. I dare not open… just buy more sippy cups 🙂

    • That would be the easy solution… however when you are already on a tight budget sometimes going out and spending more money would create a whole different problem.

It was my day to do the dishes so I was stuck cleaning that bottle… something tells me thought… the wife would make me clean it anyway.

  2. That is the WORST! We have a play kitchen and my daughter gets in the habit of putting her milk in the fridge! Those sippies get thrown right in the trash! There is no way I will open those.
