There are a few dads who I have been talking to, who have been talking about getting more fit.  I know that I have talked about this in the past and failed miserably, as I have not lost any weight, but we thought if we banded together we would be able to keep each other motivated to achieve our goals.

We have also started a blog that we will be posting weekly updates to help see what our progress is.  You will be able to see pictures of us basically like a before and after, and be able to see our goals and our reasons behind getting involved in this.  This is the first week for us to start this project and we are all excited to see where this will take us.

Here is my first post from this week…


Alright I’ll go first here.  I’ll list of my goals.

  1. 1. Lose 20 pounds in 6 months
  2. 2. Lay off Soda/pop – starting gradually
  3. 3. Start eating healthier and make better snack choices
That will be a start for me. I am starting this challenge off at 205 pounds with the hopes that by the middle of June I will be down to 185lbs.  I will post pictures as soon as possible (I’m not avoiding it just have no way to take good pics of myself with out the wifey here).
I have a treadmill that has been sitting in the basement unused for about the last 6 months, so that is the main way that I plan to accomplish my weight goal.  I also hope that by doing this my son will see that being healthy is important and will follow in my footsteps.
I think a good idea if for all of us to list out what our goals are for #dadfit.  That way we know where each of us want to be so that we can help encourage each other along the way.

  1. If you haven’t already tried it my Mom has lost over 50 lbs using MyFitnessPal for the iPhone. I’ve used it before too with success. Check it out and good luck!

  3. Good luck! I would try to cut out fizzy drinks and unhealthy snacks, but then I wouldn’t eat/drink anything!

    My goal over the Christmas season is to maintain my weight while lifting heavy to take advantage of my 2-3 week break from rugby. I figure I won’t try to lose weight since I know that I’ll be eating some big Christmas meals and I’m not going to skimp on those.

    One thing I have always found useful is to not only write down my end goals, but set little goals as well. For instance, you want to lose 20 pounds in 6 months, but what weight do you want to be by the end of January? How many times a week will you work out?

    Granted I’m not the greatest person to be giving advice as I have my issues with losing weight, but I wish you the best. I’m almost back under 200!

  5. A few months late or I would have loved to participate. I just lost 83 lbs. It was the best feeling in the world. I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted. One of the best ways to stay motivated is to have a good team to support you.

  6. your blog is amazing! im a daddy blogger myself, someday over time i hope to have a site like this. Careful on that treadmill, the reason i had time to finally start my blog was because i blew my knee out on one. Happy New year!
