One Tooth Wonderboy!

Dear Chipmunk,

I wish there was something we could do to help your pain now, but mom and dad know that we can’t do anything since you aren’t sick.  You’re teething!

We’ve been wondering it all along how soon will your teeth come in.  Now, we have proof that you are.  We see that white mound on your bottom gum!  It is exciting for both of us… probably not so much for you now.

I’m sure you are wondering what mom and dad are doing when we look into your mouth, pull your lip down, and move your tongue.  Well, we are looking at your little tooth that is trying to poke through.   When we see it we are so excited that we clap with excitement.  I’m sure that adds to you wondering what is going on.  Someday when you are reading this blog you will realize what we were doing when you were seven months old.

We hate to see you in the pain that you are in.  You can barely sleep but for more than an hour.   Dr. J told us to leave out the baby orajel and then we realized what it could lead to and we threw it out immediately.   Dr. J even called it and said you were teething, without even seeing you in person!!! We thought you were getting another ear infection while on medication for a previous infection and so mom called him and asked.  He said you were just teething!!!  Sure enough you were!  For future reference you won’t be able to get anything by Dr. J… he knows everything.

Anyways,  in a few days you will get to see Aunt Amy, who is coming home from Russia to live with us for a month and a half before heading back to Russia.  She is really excited to see you and every time we mention her name to you, you get a huge smile on your face.  You recognized her the last we Skype’d with her and you were laughing and having fun with her.

You are growing so fast… before we know it you’ll be walking and then we will all be in trouble!

Love,
Dad

  1. Oh the days of teething! We use to soak small baby washcloths in water and then freeze. The twins would chew on these and it did wonders for the teething pain! Not to mention it help us because we had finally found a way to help relieve their pain without using meds! Congrats on the first tooth. : )

  2. So awesome little Chipmunk! Adam has 2 teeth now. Teething rings are amazing, sometimes we’ll treat with a little bit of a freeze and arrowroot cookies seem to make things better. Worse case a shot of baby tylonal always help. Watch your fingers, arms and everything soon he’ll be nibbling on you 🙂

  3. Love your new dad blog… such a good idea for sharing tips and keeping a record of your Chipmunk. Like a previous commenter, we also did frozen washcloths. Wonderful! I’m expecting our 3rd baby soon, so I’ve been reading up on baby care… there’s so much I’ve forgotten in 3 years! I’ve found this… please excuse the title… Mom’s Guide to have some good info on teeth, from babyhood to teenage years. Hang in there… all 3 of you. You’ll soon be past teeth and maybe onto more painful things like my son was: stitches at 19 months, the little climber!

  4. I couldn’t figure out why my daughter was being a pain in the ass…then I looked in her mouth when she was screaming one day and she has her two year old bottom molars! Who knew!
